Langston Hughes has a poem called Dreams and another entitled Dream Variations. I'm not sure if there is a connection between the two poems. I'll have to research it. Nevertheless, the titles came to mind as I was working on this current piece. The piece below is in response to a previous work of mine called, "Greatness." Well, here's a variation of my idea of greatness:
Greatness Variation
not always on the right beat
a chord from out of this world
swinging
laughing
dancing
skipping
cartwheeling
sledding...at thirty LOL!
slipping
sliding
sharps and flats
both treble and bass
dreaming
believing
doing
being
when I allow myself
I'm
GREAT
at being
ME
